Meditation Teaching

Interested in meditation? Struggling to quiet down your mind whilst meditating?

If you want to learn how to meditate and enjoy the benefits of relaxation, self healing, enlightenment, experiencing the here and now, getting to know your true self, understanding form and emptiness, then contact Julie for one-to-one or group lessons using guided meditation, contemplation, mantra meditation and the practice of Mindfulness.

What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness was described by Buddha as having four foundations:

  1. Mindfulness of the body – awareness of our body’s movements
  2. Mindfulness of the feelings – awareness of our physical sensations
  3. Mindfulness of the mental state – awareness of our moods and emotions
  4. Mindfulness of mental objects – awareness of our thoughts

How can we achieve mindfulness? Well we can achieve this by focusing fully upon the present moment without being lost in thoughts about the past or future and in associated fantasies and anxieties. To be mentally absorbed in anything but the present is to be centred not in reality but in ideas about reality. The purpose of meditation is personal transformation.

Some of the benefits of meditation are:

  • It changes your character by making you deeply aware of your own thoughts, words and deeds. It allows you to understand ego and discover humility.
  • The mind becomes still and calm after practice and your life seems more peaceful.
  • It equips you for the ups and downs in life, seeing into the situation and searching for solutions.
  • It reduces tensions, fears, worries, anxiety and stress.
  • It sharpens your concentration and thinking power.
  • Your intuition sharpens and you become aware of your own subconscious motives and mechanics become clear to you – giving you a greater understanding of YOU and EXISTENCE.
  • Spiritual growth and enlightenment.
